Telemedicine
| Objectives: | | The mission of this project is to facilitate for healthcare workers to take advantage of the local broadband services offerend by the ict4rd Serengeti pilot. The objectives include reviewing user requirements on health management information systems (HMIS) supporting primary health centers and district hospitals and free and open source software (foss) meeting these requirements. The objectives also include facilitating in-service training, short term courses and continuing education for health-workers in the pilot. | | Goals: | The goal includes the following two components:
- HMIS component: Make the existing national HMIS platform available to the health care units connected to the Serengeti platform and extend it according to the user requirements considering available software tools.
- In-service training component: Prepare the launch of a course on Telemedicine involving MUCHS, Bunda DDH and Manyamanyama PHC
| | Activities: | The activties of the telemedicine project include:
- HMIS component
- Formulate a user requirement specification for HMIS in the Serengeti Pilot together with stakeholders at the Ministry of health and Social Welfare (MoHSW), the Bunda and Serengeti district councils, the Mara region and the healthcare units connected to the ict4rd Serengeti pilot.
- Care2x, an HMIS which is an open source already used in Tanzania by ELCT in Arusha. UDSM (UCC) already implement the MTUHA report into Care2X, this is the version ICT4RD should use in its sites. ELCT also has another customized version of Care2x without MTUHA report. Merge the two versions.
- iPath is the telemedicine application planned in our sites, Link Care2x with iPath.
- Provide well detailed documentation and training manuals
- Work with end-users to support their introduction of the systems in
their daily work procedures.
